What is flat tempered glass?: Tempered glass is a type of glass that is thermally strenghtened and its mechanical and thermal resistance are increased. Tempered glass is favorable product with its high resistance against impacts in consequence of its small harmless pieces when it’s broken. On the other hand, the probability of spontaneous breakages due to NiS (Nickel Sulfide) and the risk of falling may be considered as disadvantages due to presence of an empty space  when tempered glass is broken. Because of these reasons, it needs to be picked wisely by considering the place of use. In addition, tempered glass is prosessed according to the customer order. Tempered safety glass that includes the details like edge processing (edge grinding, arrising  ), hole drilling, screen  printing etc., needs to be determined according to the place of use and its processing details must be defined in accordance with the requirements of standards.

Alcam’s Profession and Experience About Tempered Glass Product

The flat glass is put into the tempering furnace according to its thickness and type, then heated until it reaches adequate temperature. Afterwards, it is cooled rapidly with compressed air. In this process, difference of stress between surface and centre of the glass, makes the tempered glass 5 times more resistant compared to the flat glass. Edge processsing, hole drilling, screen printing must be applied on the glass before tempering process. Especially, the quality of processing (arrising, edge grinding, hole drilling, notching etc.) is important for tempering process with no issues.
